Default Windshield Cowl Noise??

I bought an '06 RAM 1500 almost3 months ago. Basically love the truck - but I'm having a wind noise problem at highway speeds. It seems to be coming from the windshield cowl, where the two sides overlap in the center of the windshield. The sound gets very loud, and continues unless I greatly reduce speed. It's much worse on windy days. I noticed that the passenger side of the cowl wasn't actually attached to the firewall - there is a screw at the far end and several plastic body clips, and all were loose as if someone had removed the cowel. I tightened the screw and the clips, but it made no difference at all. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas what I can do about it?

My guess if you bought it used, chances are windshield could have been replaced before and who ever installed it didn't lay the glue down properly, or if he did then he didn't install the glass properly after running the glue. Used to be an installer and the windshield on the Ram is one I rarely did by myself. If I did, I usually put a molding on the top edge of the glass to use as a gauge when installing it. To check if the noise is coming from the windshield try putting some thin paper like a receipt and see if it moves when you reach high speed, if it does my guess is the windshield was not sealed properly. If that's the case don't try to get someone to seal it, it'll probably look like **** even if it's covered, it might only fix the problem temporarily, and it's not safe if you get in an accident. See if you can get the windshield replaced through your insurance or dealership where you bought it from. Make sure you specifically ask for an OEM windshield, the majority of aftermarket windshields are ****. PPGis a decent aftermarket brand though if you can't get the OEM. Hopes this helps you out.

Well it may not be his windshield, I was just providing that information to see if it may be the windshield since he thinks the noise may be coming from the windshield cowl which covers the bottom of the windshield. I have seen trucks that had a bad seal at the bottom of the windshield causing air leaks caused by a variety of problems.

Default windsheild noise

I have a 08 ram 1500 with the same noise.( I am the only owner) It's been to the deal several times and has a new cowling installed. But after a few months it's BACK!
They have placed insulation under it,just to shift the noise else where. If any one finds an answer to the problem please e-mail me.
