Default Towing package question.

I have an 06 Ram that did not come with the factory towing package, so I bought the Mopar wiring harning harness with the 7 pin connector. I have not installed it yet, it looks to bea fairly simple install. It plugs into the flat 4 connector trailer harness, there is one wire that you splice into the reverse light, andonegroundwire that you wire to the frame.

Then the wires strap to the frame and one red wire hooks up to the positive terminal of the battery along with the fuse holder. Then there is a blue wire that goes into the cab of the truck, I am guessing to hook up to the brake controller.

I have purchased a trailer brake controller and see where they offer a plug that you can just plug into the factory harness under the dash and you don't have to find and hot wire and a ground.

Well anyway my question is will my truck have this plug?... Or do I have to do some slicing under the dash?

Thanks

If your truck didn't have the round 7 way connector when it left the factory, you probally don't have the plug under the dash that you are asking about. Even if it does have the connector under the dash, when you add the Mopar wiring harness, the plug is useless. You will have to wire in the brake controller. The brake controller will have 4 wires. 1 goes to the battery positive, 1 goes to battery negative, 1 goes to the blue wire that the Mopar harness came with and the last goes to the brake light switch. If you have questions about this install PM or better yet call me. I have installed the Mopar kit on about 100 trucks.....DAVID

if u didnt get the tow package on ur truck u might want to go ONLY by thee book specs,

the tow package u pay for at the dealer actually consists of a bigger trans with a temp gauge and a trans cooler located in front of the radiator also u get a beefier rear end. just my opinion i would hate to see ur trans go
