Default Exhaust Question *DIFFERENT*

Today I tried to dump my exhaust for the 3rd time, and as you can probably assume by me typing this, failed miserably. Meineke would charge me a little over $40 to do this but thats 2/3 of a tank of gas and I don't really have that money to be throwing around right now anyway. Anyway, heres my problem:

The two pipes in the cented that have suffered from exhaust leaks are extender pipes. My Cherry Bomb is ~6 inches long. The old Flowmaster was ~15 inches. Those pipes connect the Cherry Bomb to the rest of the Flowmaster Cat-Back system pipes. I want to replace those extender pipes with turndowns. A 15mm socket gets the brackets off easy, but after that, I'm stuck. If I was strong enough, the entire system would probably fall off before the extender pipes would loosen. Any suggestions?

And 2 more questions: Do the turndowns serve a function? Could I simply take a plasma cutter to the extender pipes or would that cause a problem?

first off did you spray the clamps with liquid wrench or something similar to break up the rust? also i think the turn downs make the exhaust go towards the gorund instead of under the truck completely for safey reasons..but not too sure on the last part

No, I didn't spray the clamps with anything. Even in their rusty state, I can loosen them enough to get them over the extender.

Would spraying just benefit the clamps or would it make it easier to get the pipes themselves off?

Also, would torching the pipes help get them off at all?

exaust point to the ground for safety of fumes in cab as well as sound the pitch is key, i would take plasma to them because they have extreme heat, u would be better of with a grinder u can get 1 at menards 4 15 bucks and u can get the pipe really cheap but after all the trouble u might as well go to meineke. but if ur like me i prob would spend more to do it myself just to do it than take it to the man.

To loosen the pipes some WD 40 and a hammer should do the job. spray it into the joint let it sit a bit then firmly tap the joint if it doesn't loosen spray wait and tap again. If that fails get a bigger hammer and if that fails, you can try heating them with a torch to get the metal to expand. And finally if all that fails cut the cotton pickin' things off with a sawsall

Hammer and WD-40!! If you want to use heat, use that first as WD-40 is flammable and you don't want to burn your eye brows off...LOL!!!

I dumped mine and had a buddy come help me. I had rusted clamps.. I just yanked and yanked with some wd40. i had my buddy hold and balance the rest of exhaust while i took everything off. the put on my tiny aero and up underneath in one of the mounts and bought a piece of pipe with a turn down and stuck it in.

Number one it works buddy, number two penetraiting oil like wd-40 is not flammable. I know I've tried.

I just replaced the stock exhast on my 05 ram and spraying the joints and hitting with a hammer worked just don't put too much stress on the y pipe. In my experiences wd-40 is flamable.. My .02 tho good luck
