disc the battery, take off the tube running from your air filter to your plenum (that big black box ontop of your engine), theyre connected with hose clamps, a few twists with a flathead and youre good. theres gonna be 1 or 2 bolts, mine only had one, on the right side of the plenum, unbolt that, theres a hose clamp connecting the plenum to the throttle body, its a slight bitch to get at, again a few twists and youre good. you may or may not have a mass air sensor on the rear left of the plenum, 02 didnt have em, i know 06 and up do, so dont know about the years in between. once you have your plenum off you can see your throttle body, you can either just clean what you can see with a microfiber cloth and some brake cleaner, or you can take the throttle boddy off, 8mm i think, itll be a lot dirtier on the side that you cant see while attached, i spray the hell out of mine, some people say ooooh dont get the inside too wet, F it its combustable. if you do take it apart youll need a new gasket. while youre doing that you may want to run some cleaner in your pcv valve (thats the lil 1 inch or so tube coming out of your air filter box) they sell cleaning kits for that, i think a lot of people like sea foam, ive never used it though. while youre at it, how many miles do you have on it? whens the last time you changed the plugs? you should use the same plugs as i do, RC12MCC4 gaps a 40, its a copper champion, dont let the moron at the counter tell you plat is better.
once every thing is back on and if you throw a code, just disc the batt again for 20-30 min and start it back up. dont forget to plug that mass air sensor back in.

It helps if your TB is dirty and your mileage has dropped. It gets crud in it from the egr system, witch makes it stick a little, and not flow air as well, wich makes your mileage drop.
help rough idle? what about on a durango i think its the same motor 4.7?

I just cleaned mine on my hemi and right when i started it it idled like a 1964 POS. A minute later it was perfect. I recently lost some power but after i cleaned it I think i got it back. When doing it make sure you don't drop anything in the hole that goes into the engine, You'll be so screwed if you did that. I just did a few WOT passes and once the tranny down shifts it takes off so fast like you can really feel the G's.
