another ebay intake research tool for ya guys...
inspired by texasbigb
for under $40 shipped, i received this in the mail a few months back:

^^ it's from the same seller he got it from too. only differences are that i didn't get the full intake setup, and i also didn't get the k&n setup. i have the shorter intake that connects to the resonator, and their house "chromeintakes" filter. seems fine. whenever i decide to change the filter, i'll just buy the same filter, but k&n, from autozone. i liked the shorter one, cause it didn't mess with the air sensor.
here's what it looks like installed:

i feel it looks better to remove all of the bracketry from the old air cleaner box. it's just kind of difficult, cause you gotta get under/around wheel well to get the last two bolts out. in my case, it was basically necesarry too...cause the intake tubes were close to it (and they'd hit under driving conditions...cause you're intake tubes do quite a bit of bouncing around). i know texasbigb said not to waste your time, but it's definitely worth it. you just unscrew like 5 of 6 wheel well screws, just so you can slide it a few inches, and stick a ratchet under your wheel well above wheel (see picture above this paragraph to see what i'm talking about removing). it's definitely worth the extra 20 min cause not only is it twenty minutes, the bracket is rather big, ugly, and totally says, "hey, put the stock intake back in here!"...which...isn't what anyone wants.
this, paired with a powerwire and exhaust, definitely gave a bit of performance gains.
also, i've just noticed (took these pictures just a few min ago...months after intake was installed), that the blue hose is kinda "soft" and is crimped where it curves. i knew that was gonna happen when i put it on. i'm gonna head to autozone today, and buy a stiffer black rubber hose for it.

I bought the 2 piece but later converted it to a 3 piece because it was rubbing on a belt. With mine it seems like my mileage has consistently dropped ever since I added my intake. I don't drive it very hard either so I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. The truck has felt a littlesluggish lately though and that is since I added the 3rd piece to my intake. I wonder if a short intake works better on our trucks. I'm thinking that most of my gas mileage drop off might be that my average trip is 3 miles to work and 3 miles back. The truck is barely warm by the time I get there.
yea smash....haha all us ebay ppl are comn out now...do the short ram intakes make a big difference in sounds? i kno the full ones do...i was wonderin because that box that says 3.7 magnum on it kinda muffles the vroom sound...
^^ sound wise, it doesn't do much. i put it on same day the flowmaster was thrown on...so, i can't tell really, cause...i just hear my exhaust =)
next time i'm out there, i'll go under hood and throttle it from there so i could hear it.

nice....yea im took my truck to the muffler shop and they said about 300 for custom muffler and the 2 pips w/ chrome tips....they said it wouldnt do much to the hp torque gain but would help a lil in mpg and sound....so for about 300 bux im set
now i just gotta get the dough and im set for "upgradez"....not much else i can do besides buy a powerwire...
