From my '03 shop manual. Not sure 'bout the '02, and my '04-'06 manuals are on a different PC:FRONT AXLE² C205F - Mopart Gear Lubricant 75W-90² 9 1/4 AA - Mopart Synthetic Gear Lubricant75W-90REAR AXLE² 9 1/4 - Mopart Synthetic Gear Lubricant 75W-140² 10 1/2 AA - Mopart Synthetic Gear Lubricant75W-90² 11 1/2 AA - Mopart Synthetic Gear Lubricant75W-90NOTE: Trac-LokT differentials require Limited SlipAdditive in the lubricant. Trac-Rite™ differentialsDO NOT require Limited Slip Additive.
My '04 is the same, but I HAVE to use Dino oil in the rear, don't matter anyway from a warranty standpoint, since I no longer have Mopar Gears in there anymore. Auburn Gear is VERY ADAMANT about NOT using synthetic in diffs where their LSD lives. (Believe me, they are big on this for some reason, I even emailed them to confirm this.) So I have 75w-140 Lucas, with the additive. I'll just change it at 15k instead of 30k to be safe. I have synthetic in the front though.
BTW: I have a nice shiny new chrome diff cover in the garage, waiting for another 6k miles, so I can put it on when I change the rear diff fluid...

no its a 12 bolt......pretty sure its a 9.25, not POSITIVE but pretty damn sure. 3.92 gears too.....thats what its says on the axle. it has 12 bolts..i can count. the sticker says 3.92 and the sticker that says the size is ripped right where it says the size i conly only read " .25" figures the first # is gone!
Was talking to nypanama bout the 8.25, 10 bolt.

Alllllllright soanyone want to lay this all out for the dumb rook here? Haven’t done any of this stuff before, but I’d like to learn and do it all if I can. 15k maintenance is coming up. So I need to change out my front and rear end fluids. I was looking at the amsoil site and through my manual, but still not sure how much of what I need for the front and rear (and yes I have the LSD). I think I got the jist of it from the diy post on the rear end, but clueless how to swap out the front. Anyone care to elaborate?!?

I know these are what I’m looking at, again, just not positive how much I need?

1500 Model Front Axle (4X4) GL-5 SAE 75W-90 (MS-9763) or equivalent.
1500 Model Rear Axle Mopar_ Synthetic Gear Lubricant SAE 75W-140 (MS-8985). Limited-Slip
Rear Axles on 1500 Models Require the addition of 118 ml (4 oz.) Mopar_
Limited Slip Additive or equivalent.

If you have, or get a build sheet it will tell you there, the one wheel peel is another giveaway. Or you can just crack the pumpkin in the AM before you go to get oil. You'll be able to see it.

Royal Purple is fine and I believe it has the additive in it already, so you're covered either way. When you have it open you'll be able to tell, because an "open diff" is, well "open"...

4 pints in the rear right? Youll want it to be 5/8" below the fill hole.

Don't rember the front, but buy more than you need cause the most pumps won't get all of the oil out of the bottle.

The manual said "DO NOT USE FRICTION MODIFIER" in our 04' 2500 w/limited slip 10.5" 14bolt. It said ONLY use 75/90 full synthetic front & rear & said it was filled from factory with full synthetic 75/90 front & rear. Our new 08' PowerWagon says the same.
