Default Gear ratio's W/LSD

I have a 05 QCSB ram 1500 4x4 that I am going to lift with a 2.5in top gun customz leveling kit. I am going to put toyo mt 35x12.5x17 on the 4.7 ram. I have a towing package so I think I have 3.93 gears, but I am thinking about putting 4.56 gears in there. My question is could I install the 4.56 gears and the do a LSD at a later date?

Yes, the only downside is that most of the labor for a LSD install is getting in there, so a lot of places won't charge, or charge much extra to install a LSD with a gear install. Other than having to pay for a lot of the same labor, there is no other reason that you cannot have it done at a later time.

Thats not true. It's the direction of the rotation you have to look for. I have an open diff, and both mine spin. Just one goes the opposite way of the other.

Well if mine comes stock with an LSD then would I have to buy another one or would the stock one work well with the 4.56 gears?

REDRAM2005 i went through this same thing. if i were u i would get rid of the stock LSD if you do have it and replace it with either the detroit truetrac or the auburn LSD. i originally put the Auburn in my truck and blew it up within two weeks, but other people here on df have no problem with them i guess mine was just the lemon. i now have the truetrac and have had it for about two months now and have had no problems with it. the stock LSD has a clutch pack on either side of the spider gears and on these clutch packs there are clips that hold the clutch packs together and these clips break and either force their way into the side bearings on the carrier and explode the bearings and when this happens the carrier usually cracks the housing. They can get wedged between the gears and mess up the gears. now the auburn also operates with a clutch but it is a cone style clutch that is on the spider gears and if these clutches wear out you can't rebuild it. The Detroit operates with all gears they are pretty much Bulletproof but they are also not rebuildable. As far as the 4.56's i love mine i just cant run over 70mph on the highway or else my gas mileage drops pretty significantly!

Could you give me a website where you purchased your gears. I was looking at 4wheelparts.com but they only had the auburns. If I have a 4.7 QCSB 4x4 with 35x12.5x17 tires would you recommend that I use 4.56 or 4.10 gears. I dont have to go over 70 often at all. So would the 4.56 give me better torque and therefore slightly better mileage than the 4.10's?

the 4.56's are your best bet the have great low end acceleration and torque plus in the city they gave me about 3 mpg more. if you already have 3.92's i would not put the 4.10's in your truck you wouldn't notice that much of a difference so it would be stupid to wate your money on them. i bought my gears and Detroit truetrac from a guy here in missouri his website is WWW.CUSTOM-DIFFERENTIALS.COM and he is out of Bloomsdale, missouri he builds custom 4x4 trucks all day long i am sure he will ship them to you since he shipped mine to me i live about 100 miles from him. the LSD with the new side bearings was 600.00. I dont know how much the gears were i got them off of a friend for 100 bucks. I saw Gears for the chrysler 9.25 on summitracing.com also.

Thanks for all your help. I saw the 4.56 gears on 4wheelparts for 548 and the LSD for around 500. I will check both out though. And 3MPG after your lift compared to stock?
