New Exhaust Idea
I think I'm going to put my stock exhaust system back in, change the muffler (magnaflow or aero turbine 3030) and either put a turn down right off the muffler, or attached the factory tailpipe and cut it somewhere under the truck above the rear axle so you dont see any tailpipe. What do you guys think? Where should I cut the pipe? Has anyone done this and maybe have some pics?
i have mine dumped right off the muffler. i have a 40 flowmaster single in/dual out. two turndowns right off the flow'. sounds wicked and its only a 4.7L. it looks clean, no chrome tips to pay out the butt for then polish and eventually ruin. Sorry i tried to resize them but i phailed
sound is crappy but you get a look at it.

i installed a 40 series flowmaster with the 3" in and dual 2.5" out and dumped them right after the muffler on my hemi and it sounds pretty wicked.

I did it with the 50 series(dumped after muffler), and it sounds pretty good. Not all loud for my everyday truck. I will prolly switch to my Novas old 40 series and dump it too see what it sounds like......I'm thinking i'm gonna like it better then my 50 series.
I had mine done, cut before the Y, ran true dual exhaust to a pair of FM super 40s and dumped them right behind the mufflers. It looks pretty much like the other pics. I like the sound a lot, but I think I'll add an X-pipe soon to smooth it out some as it tends to havea higher pitch crackle when I'm accelerating pretty hard.
I love the turn down sound. Makes the deep tones just bounce off the ground, but if you drive on gravel (I live in MO, and am in KY a lot, so this does become an issue) it will also stir up a fair amount of dust but it's worth it for how it makes it sound, IMO.
