Default your take on, de-badging a 6yr old truck

Kinda waning some input on debaging my truck. I always liked the minimal apperance of it. I've watched my uncle do it, but his was a brand new truck. Pretty crazy watching a guy start tearing **** off of a 50 thousand dollar duramax with less than 100 miles on it. Will a hair dryer work as good as a heat gun for this application. Think there would be any noticable fading of the paint? I'd hate to have to tell people i wanted the ghosting effect of my badges painted on. Plus i swear the SLT emblem is crooked. Any body else think theres was slanting downward?

I love the debadged look. Mine was 4 years old when I did it and had no problems with it. Do a search on debadging here and you will see a few different ways.

Being 6 years old, id bet you will notice fading, especially on a darker color truck. Its a nice clean look tho. All you can do is punt and see what you get if you really wanna do it.

I've done a few, mostly for others. I use fishing line and a pinstripe eraser. I took some badges off my truck and started in less noticeable places when it was two years old and I got the moddin' fever. I noticed the sun fade right awaywhen I took some tailgate emblems off, so I didn't debadge any of the larger ones. My truck is red though, and I'm sure would really show the sun fade bad, but since mine was only two and yours has been in the sun for six years, I think it would show pretty bad...

My front fender was smashed in and i had it fixed, when i got it back, the badges didn't come in yet, but i needed it, so i took it. I noticed that I could see maks in the metal Where the "RAM 1500" was stuck on the door. They repainted the whole front pass door and replaced the finder. I like my badges, and am not into removing them.

I debadged my '02 in late '06 and there wasn't any shadowing at all. I'm sure you'll be ok if you do it now as long as the paint around the badges has been maintained well.

Also, if you ever come across another jacked '05 3500, get it!
