RE: Best Programmer for MPG
Hypertech was worthless and I noticed no gains from it! MPG or power! Superchip was an instant notice to MPG and HP! Those were the only two I have tried but I would definitely take the Superchip over the Hypertech! HANDS DOWN!

RE: Best Programmer for MPG
Not interested in power, but want more mpgs. Sounds to me like you bought the wrong vehicle.
Best mpg gains will be from a Superchips (a roughly $400 investement) using the performance tune (yea, it gets better mpgs than the "economy" tune) which means you'll have to use premium fuel (at 20 - 30 cents more a gallon). This should net you a solid 1 - 1.5 mpg gain over where you are at now. Gonna take a few gallons to offset that tuner price though...[&:]

for an extra 1-1.5 aint worth the increase gas cost, unless you get crap right now.
also once you figure on the actuall savings you gotta factor in those 4 bills, plus you know youll pop it in performance mode and punch it and have a hard time going back to econ.

Actually economy does nothing but allows your truck to run 87 octane. You actually get worse fuel economy on economy setting. Performance setting you will get the most HP and best mpg gains out of any of the settings. As far as the cost. Fork out $450 for a superchips tuner and you within 1 - 2 years you will have paid the initial cost of entry and the rest will be $$$ in your pocket after that. I agree with hammer in the sense that a Dodge Ram is not the most fuel efficient vehicle and if you wanted efficient a Prius is an idea. I do like pulling out some more fuel economy for my truck but I do know I will never get anything like thefuel economyof a compact car.
