Damn, I've had five vehicles with 4.0 I6's in them. When I was married, the wife had '95, '98 and '02 Grand Cherokee Laredo's and I had a '94 and '98 Wrangler. Never had a hint of an issue with any of them, engine-wise (Didn't have any of them past 60k but I did give our '98 GC to my mother when we got the '02 and she had it till this past November, 93k on it w/o an issue). I love that engine, I can take it apart and put it back together blindfolded. Ex got the '02, so I went out and bought my current daily driver. Was actually looking for a 2wd Laredo with a 4.0, but got one of those "deals you can't refuse" on a 4x4 Overland, loaded with the High Output 4.7 V8. Very low miles, was a tow behing the camper vehicle, mint condition and $5000 under KBB!
I've got a good fishing/hunting/ATV buddy lives near my farm up in Ga. who's got a '96 Cherokee 4x4 with over 230k miles on the 4.0 in it...
Well, maybe your bf can get it going, I just hate to see dead 4.0's. Good luck with the Dodge!!!

hey hemiyellow..& TY for your welcome also..seems to be great site..=-) anyhow, not to go to deep into my sunroof story but the same daymy truckwas back to the dealership someone came into my work in an '08 1500 and I mentioned his sweet truck..lol..and asked him if he had a sunroof and he told me yes. Then I kinda said jokingly...good luck with that..and of course he asked me why.. I started to tell him my dilemna with car wash, when all of a sudden he pulled his coat back so I could see his work shirt emblem. He was aservice worker for Parkway Dealership (gm/chrysler dealership). He then went on to say how tired he was of customers not understanding that the PSI in the dryers are so high that pretty much what I got from him was, what do we expect??? I made sure to tell the service manager of the dealership Iam dealing with right now to contact them because obviously they've had issues with it...I thought his head was going to start spinning..LOL..Anyhow, I prob. would be alot less prone to use automatic if it was mine, but it is absolutely insane that a 40,000 truck with a factory sunroof can't go through an automatic car wash.. don't they test the sunroofs b4 leaving factory...??....anyhow..lol...that's my story and Iam sticking to it..LOL..TMI...sorry..lol
