P0441--what was your fix?
this is the second time the code has come up. first time i just cleared it and went about my normal business. this time i left it in and i'm trying to see what's actually gonna fix it. did the search on here...a few suggested the gas cap, well, no dice there. others suggested the hoses going into/out of the filter/canister (whatever the hell it is), i found them...they just look like plain rubber hoses...so how the hell do i determine if one is bad. and, other than rubber, what would you replace them with? is this going to turn into something that i'm better off taking in and having the wrench monkeys work on? my extended warranty should cover this (minus the $100 deductible)...just an inconveniece to take it in for a day or 2.
It took a little searching but I found this on another site from someone who threw this code....
It's in the purge system. The good news is that the leak test passed so you don't have a vacuum leak in the lines, you have a purge problem. In the purge system, a leak is created, that's how it works. That involves a bad charcoal canistor (doubtful unless you top-off the tank when fueling all the time), a blocked purge line, bad purge solenoid or the little air pump itself. The solenoid is located in the engine compartment next to the power distrub box. The manual has more info on it in the Emissions section. [/align]

thank you.
i do top off the tank on every fill up...never knew that was a bad thing, have always done it on every vehicle. i guess i'll dig the book out and check out the solenoid info, then check the pump and lines...if all that checks out, i'm off to the dealer. i should just start with the most expensive part....that'll be what's broken....damn murphy's law
