Default Flowmaster 40 or Magnaflow 18"?

Okay, this is a common topic. However, I am going to dig deeper...

I was looking at some posts that the 40 series to be restrictive. I want to eliminate this problem as i own a 40 series.

Is the magnaflow any better?

any tests?

thanks

Mangaflow is one of the top performing mufflers out there. Its a straight through design, so theres almost no restriction. Another to consider is the dynomax ultraflo. Its built very similar to the magnaflow.

The flowmaster is better than a stock muffler, but compared to other aftermarket mufflers its average at best. The single in/out 40 series isnt as bad as most people hear, but if you want to stay with a flowmaster, go with a 10 series, Its the race style single chamber that flows well. Its the 80 series thats made for a firebird/camaro that really corks up the exhaust. Thats the muffler you want to avoid.

I've had an ultraflo, then went to the one chamber flow and didnt notice any difference in power.

I know alot of guys are also using the aero-turbine, ifyou want loud I would go for that. On another site there was a test done a few yrs ago between magnaflow and flowmaster, and it showed magnaflow makes more power. Later today when I get some free time I will dig that up and post it on here. I started out with a 40 series, it was on my truck maybe 3 months when I found out about it being bad for the hemi. The next day I had a magnaflow installed and noticed a difference right away. Now I am back to a flowmaster 50 series, in about a year I will be switching over to a aero-turbine as it seems to be a good muffler also, and sounds bad a$$

Well,I was hoping to go a lil with less sound andmore performance. The magnaflow 18" or 20" body may be what i want. I just really wish someone who actually knew what size theirs was would post a sound clip of a 20" or an 18".... Thats probably impossible....

Let me try to get you one this week. I have the 18" magnaflow on my 4.7 ram. I had the 24" magnaflow before but for some reason the 18" is a lot quiter, but still has a nice deep sound to it.
