Question for car stereo gurus...
I might be able to figure this out when I get all the parts in and tear my dash apart, but I thought I'd try to figure out what I'll be doing right now. I'm adding a Kenwood Double DIN andnew speakers, replacing the stock 7 speaker Infinity system. I've got a Alpine amp I'll be using, but I just thought of something; how am I going to wire up the speakers from the amp? I'll end up with rear door, front door, and front dash speakers; 6 total. Do I run the dash speakers off of the HU amp, and the door speakers off of the 4 channels of the Alpine?

What are the power ratings of the speakers? Are the new dash speakers tweeters or full range? What is the power of the amp?

I would use the factory amp with the new speakers I've done that before and it sounded awsome and added a sub to top it off

I wouldnt use the stock amp in your case at all since its rated to run speakers of a lower wattage. The door speakers, are they components or are they 2-ways/3-ways? If they are a component set then you would have a crossover that you would run to both the dash tweets and the door speakers. If they are 2/3 ways then you will still need a cap or a crossover to filter out the lows from the dash tweets. If the later is the case I would use the head units power to run the dash, then the 4 channel configuration to run the other 4 door speakers. Some head units have a way to filter out the highs through in in-board crossover and that may be a way to help filter out the lows but usually it affects both the internal amp output and the line outputs too.

I'm not sure youre going to get any real benefit from the dash speakers. Either get a 6.5 comp set for the front and run the tweets in the dash or put them in the door. Comps in the back doesnt make sense if youve got coaxs in the front.
If it were me, Id just forget about six channels. Just run four channels + sub. Use comps in front, get midbass drivers for rear door, and add a sub.
Six channels will not sound better thanfour or necessarily better thantwo. The wiring will be much easier too.

From what I'm getting from you I would run the dash speakers from the HU and the others from the amp. Usually, the componant speakers would go in the front as this is where most of your sound will come from. Putting them in the back, you might actually need a more powerful amp to get the best sound from them. Another thing that, you can do, is if your amp is bridgeable, I would run the Dash and front door speakers from the head unit and brdige the rear componants to maximize the power from the amp. If not, then we are back to the running the 4 door speakers. Just a thought.
How much do you wanna sell your Infinity speakers for? I don't have the Infinity and I like to drive with all 5 windows open, and I can barely hear the stereo. I don't want to turn it up all the way becuase they will blow.
