TInted Tails
Hey guys, I'm looking for some input here. I just tinted my 3rd brake light and love it. Now, I'm lookingto tint my tail lights.
1. I know some people say it's hard to see fully tinted tail light (#2 in pic), but I like them (I do live in Florida though).
2.Should Igo with pic #1?But I'm not sure I like it though.
3. What about doing the same as #2 but put a stencil of the Ram logo on the circular part, so after I coat it, the ram logo will still be completely red.
What do you guys think?

I bought some VHT Nite Shades! It's made for tinting lights. I put a few coats on, let it dry, wet sanded it then put some clear-coat on. I'll post a pic of it when I can, but I live in the panhandle of florida and there are some serious storms rolling it.
just word of mouth. heard it looks like **** down the line.....ive also seen a few ricers with it and it looks disgusting. its all flat black and....it lokks terrible. i like just a light tint...not black a light tint that is very glossy and doesnt affect the brightness very much
I agree. I like a little tint, not completely black. My 3rd brake light is very dark, more than I would like, but it was my first time. It is shiny though, the clear coat really made it look good. I'd just like the lights to blend in with my truck more.

exactly. we dont have black truck and we dont have red. so i was looking to get rid of those bright red spots on my truck and just blend it a little to my truck. im not looking to make them charcoal but tone down the red tailights. ill definatly start onmy 3rd brake light to get a feel for it.
but if i do the spray on night shades....just spray on very light coats until i get the color i want....let it dry and VERY lightly wet sand it with 2000 grit...let it dry and all that and spray some clear coat on it?
what did you use to clean the lens before you start spraying...just soap and water?

Here's a writeup on tinting taillights, its for a 350z, but same principal. I'm planning on doing it a little down the road when I get a few days off. No end in site to the madness right now..... sigh

Exactly! You may want to do it a little darker, because when you sand it, of course you will take some of the darkness off.
I cleaned mine with dish soap. Wiped it down really good, let it dry quick then went with the nite shades. The nite shades dries really quick. Just wet sanded it, cleaned it again, let it dry then used Duplicolor clear coat. I have read that the duplicolor doesn't dry clear, but mine sure did. When I first put it on, it was not clear at all and I was PISSED! But after about 30 minutes it was all clear and shiny!
