Default Is there a mod I can do?

I went from 265/70r/17's to 285/75/17 tires. I carry a truck camper so wanted bigger load range tires. I love the tires! My truck is a 5 speed manual but now it feels like I need a 6 speed. The gearing just seems a bit off now. It is hard to climb hills now. Any suggestions would be appreciated and what the price of the suggestions might cost me! Thanks guys!!!

re-gear.

throw a 410 or 456 in there. $1000-$1300 w/ a posi, $600-$700 w/out posi.

yeah deffinitly sounds like your gonna benefit alot from new gears....4.10 or 4.56 would be great choices, and if thats not enough then you can always look into exhaust, CAI, programmer, etc...lol....diesel guys over in the CTD section could help ya too, might wanna make a post in there as well

Since yours is 4x4, a re-gear will be super expensive. I'd get a tuner and let the Cummins take charge of the situation. You can double your torque in the blink of an eye.

Let the guys in the CTD section of this site direct you to the best power producing options.

Yea, I agree. I can't remember the last time I advised someone NOT to re-gear, but the cummins will make up for a lot of what the gears will do for you as far as low end torque goes. You'll benefit more from a tuner...
