Default Install question of Bully bar nerf bars

Here's one that has stumped me. It's quite a step into my QC so I bought a set of Bully bar tube steps but when I read the instructions, it said the brackets for it are held into place by the bolts that run through the frame to hold the cab on. I said to myself, okay I can do this mod so I loosened the first cab bolt a bit and before going any farther held the bracket up to see how it would fit up and wondered if it made any difference that the front and rear brackets for the right side are identical to the left side. Shouldn't the kit have opposite hand brackets for each side?
Also, the instruction sheet says to torque the bolts to 60ft/lbs. Is that what Dodge would say? I do not have a factory service manual.
