I installed a new AEM cold air intake on my 06 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi and I keep hearing a load knock when i get up to speed and am not laying into the throttle. I think it is the intake manifold opening and closing but I am not a mechanic so I am not sure. If it is, is there anything that I can do to keep this noise from happening? If it isnt what else could it possibly be? Any and all help is great. Thank you for your time.

 

i noticed the same thing when i put a airram cai on a week ago. ever since then i hear a fast pace ticking noise. from what i have read on the forum it's normal.

 

Your close, it's the EGR valve opening and closing. That great big restrictive piece of plastic over the throttle body you removed to install the CAI is a resonator and deadens that sound...

Is that knocking something that I need to worry about?

do you guys have heat shield box's on your intakes? If so check the Intake tube around where it enters the box for dings/scratches i found that on mine. So i butchered an extra exhaust hanger and fit four pieces of it around the intake no more rattle! i'll post pics later
