you would need to know the width of the rim in order to determine the biggest tire you could put on it. The 17" you are referring to is the diameter. I have 17" rims that have 37" tires on it but the rimsare 8 1/4" wide

You'd have to calculate the overall tire diameter, but I have 305/50R20's on mine with 9" wide rims.

I did really well with the 285' 70 R 17's. What are you looking for, street tires or off road?

HELP?

I've got pretty much the same question; I have original P245/70R17 BSW on the truck now. The wheel is 17" X 8".

My dilema is the service manager that I go to is great at taking care of my truck. I see them every 3,000 miles regardless & don't mind paying for it. BUT he is a fanatic when it comes to any mods. I don't have much of a problem with it because I keep my vehicles forever and need to maintain that good relationship with him due to the new warranty extension I paid for being an '06.[:@]

So what is the tire that will give me the tallest stance for drift wood and access roads to beaches, rivers and campgrounds?

Thanks in advance,

I believe the stock 17"wheel is 8" wide, so 11.5" wide tire would be the max. I know most 12.5" tires spec a 9" wide wheel.

Hey all the off road mags have the race trucks going with 35 or 37 X 12.50 on a 8 inch wide rim anyone know why that is?? I think itsabout the bulge thing to save the rim. And yes I know they have the big budget too afford them.

I was going with a 20" wheel/tire package when I got home but my daughter totaled her car so Daddy's helpinhg out with another car. Oh well there is always next deployment, oh wait I'm retiring before I get caught up going again. Got 21 years in now, will have 23 when I get out. 2 times in 2 1/2 years after being on a unaccompanied 1 year tour is enough for this G.I.
