Default Satellite Radio Question.

Sometime between here and August im supposed to be getting a new 08 Ram for college and right now im getting my current truck ready to put up for sale. I know that when you buy a new truck you get a free one year subscription to Sirius. I have a Pioneer 6900 that isn't even a year old in my truck now and I LOVE IT. If I were to put my Pioneer in my new truck would I lose the satellite radio? Out of all my stuff I really wanna keep my Pioneer, but if I'll lose the satellite I'll just let it go with my old truck and get a new one in 09 when the subscription runs out. Thanks guys.

the satellite comes with the radio itself, which has an ID number and is non transferable... that should answer your question... if i'm wrong, then please someone correct me!

That's dumb. I wish that you could just plug it into a different radio or buy some kind of an adapter or something.

My dad has an 07 with the Sirius and although its the same as what you get in the store, it does not show the name of the band or the song (assuming you are listening to a music station). I purchased a sirius unit and installed it in my work truck and it shows the name of the band, song, show, or whatever else is on. I would rather have a seperate unit instead of the factory dodge unit.

I agree. I like the actual Sirius unit better too. I might just scrub the free satellite and put my Pioneer in the new truck. I listen to my cd's and MP3 disk's a lot more than the radio anyway. In opinion the factory Dodge radio sucks anyway. In my moms 07 it wont play half my burnt cds and the speakers cant handle the volume I like to listen to my music at. Ill probably get some Infinity components or something later.

Yes you can transfer the subscription. Just call them and tell them that you want to deactivate the factory radio and transfer the subsription to the new sirius id.

+1 i changed my factory radio out for the pioneer avic d3, i did have to get the sat box to go with the pioneer but if you have sat radio now u should already have it and all i did was called and they transfered the service over to the new unit, i was even able to use the factory antenna on my new sat box so i didn't have to add another antenna to my truck.

well, i never thought of being a huge radio listener. once i got that sirius... it was always on that. never put in a cd other than for the ladies. if you can transfer it, get yourself a nice sirius radio which you can take inside and to your truck ands stuff with you.

So I can put my Pioneer in a new truck and still keep Sirius, but I would have to buy a Sirius radio and have it transferred over?
