RE: 180 T Stat
I've just been through all this issue andreplaced my stock Tstat with a Mr Gasket 180 Tstat, as my stocker was goosed.
The Mr Gasket Tstat worked, except it took an AGE for the truck to even reach 1/4 temp on the gauge.
My heater wasn't as toasty warm in the cold weather either. I definately saw a slight worseningof 1-2 mpg as well.[sm=forgetit.gif]
Also, I threw codes.[sm=yikesomg.gif]
The truck however, always sat at a solid 1/4 on the temp gauge, so in the summer and heavy towing, I can see that being an advantage.[sm=confused06.gif]
I got mine from Moe's as well, GREAT SERVICE FROM BOB AT MOE'S, but thankfully Iordered a stock replacement, just so I had a new gasket as the Mr Gasket (no pun intended), didn't come with one????[sm=boosign.gif]
BTW, the stocker costs $27 so the other tstat's arn't that bad in price.
After 1 week, I got sick of codes and cold heater etc and put the new stocker back in.
No more codes and a warm heater.
My truck sits at a solid 1 needle width below half on the temp gauge, just where Dodge designed it to be, to get better milleage and a happier engine.
A point to think about ????[sm=confused06.gif]

RE: 180 T Stat
The Jet is just a Stant SuperStat marked up
by 100% for profit
and at least in the past they were not the correct type
with the bypass port closing piston underneath.
A Stant SuperStat for the Mazda
reduced by grinding the diameter down one millimeter
is a better and cheaper choice
If you get a 180 degree
and test it at a dragstrip quartermile run on the hotest day this summer
then test the oem thermostat on that same day
...you will find the performance gain is tiny
and confirms what Chrysler engineers have posted
over at SRT forum,
but suit yourself
What will be harder to find out for yourself
is that your cylinder walls will wear faster with a 180 rather than a 203,
but your rubber parts under the hood may last a bit longer
before beginning to show cracks and decay
