I've just been through all this issue andreplaced my stock Tstat with a Mr Gasket 180 Tstat, as my stocker was goosed.
The Mr Gasket Tstat worked, except it took an AGE for the truck to even reach 1/4 temp on the gauge.
My heater wasn't as toasty warm in the cold weather either.

the factory gasket can be used on it aslong as you dont damage it when removing the stock stat

I was careful as well so I didn't do it on dismantling.
It was split, so it's a good job I ordered a spare as trying to get one overnight to the UK would be nigh on impossible.

Yep.....it appeared to be that way mmstar23.
I was definately using more fuel with the 180.
It got back to normal after the stocker went in.
I'm just wondering if the engine was stuck in the "cold loop" circuit, as it always smelt rich, until it got to about a 1/4 on the temp gauge???
