I'm wondering if it would be worth it to slip a 6.1 short block in place of the stock one? With slightly warmed 5.7 heads and the stock induction and controls (with program), it shouldn't be too obnoxious with a slight displacement and cam increase. Any comments?
cam should give right around 25 hp. if you dont have headers yet I would plan on getting some and free flowing exhaust, along with a CAI. Also, what valve springs are on those heads, if they are the stock 5.7 springs I would upgrade them to the 6.1 springs before that engine goes in the truck
yea i got some pacesetters lts with high flow cats with 3 1/2 pipe 40 flow master and a drop in k&n filter with a bullydog power pup so i should be right i plan on getting a better intake but it's good for a while...so 25h/p would that cut about a 1 sec or a sec if so i should be able to keep up with them tundra an titians hope anyway if not i will be blowin more money on this thing
I'm not sure about the springs he told me i would be fine with the 6.1 cam he said that its not that much more bigger **** if something happens im goin to have that 3 year warranty...or should i have some put on there i was happy now im worried about it [:@]

your going to want the 6.1 springs and 6.1 pushrods the, 5.7 springs are known to break.
here are the link to the p-rods and springs, cheapest price you will find them for

here is a article about why you should use the 6.1 p-rods.....
The 'base circles' on the 6.1 cam, Comp Cams, Crane Cams are different than the 5.7 cams. So if you upgrade to any of the above cams you need 6.1 pushrods not 5.7.
The 5.7 pushrods will work but the 6.1s make the correct 'lifter preload'.

I'd go with an aftermarket torque converter while the engine is getting swapped. The stock one hurts you even with a stock Hemi. It'll double the effectiveness of your mods for around $400 and shouldn't add anything to your labor.
