I plan to keep my truck untill it needs a new trany/engene. Then the 6.1 Hemi is going into it.

I'm wondering if it would be worth it to slip a 6.1 short block in place of the stock one? With slightly warmed 5.7 heads and the stock induction and controls (with program), it shouldn't be too obnoxious with a slight displacement and cam increase. Any comments?

cam should give right around 25 hp. if you dont have headers yet I would plan on getting some and free flowing exhaust, along with a CAI. Also, what valve springs are on those heads, if they are the stock 5.7 springs I would upgrade them to the 6.1 springs before that engine goes in the truck

You should be able to keep up with a nissan or toyota without the cam...just make sure if those are stock 5.7 springs that they get swapped out with the 6.1 springs valve springs, or there is a very good chance you will be having engine problems again

your going to want the 6.1 springs and 6.1 pushrods the, 5.7 springs are known to break.

here are the link to the p-rods and springs, cheapest price you will find them for

here is a article about why you should use the 6.1 p-rods.....
The 'base circles' on the 6.1 cam, Comp Cams, Crane Cams are different than the 5.7 cams. So if you upgrade to any of the above cams you need 6.1 pushrods not 5.7.
The 5.7 pushrods will work but the 6.1s make the correct 'lifter preload'.

I'd go with an aftermarket torque converter while the engine is getting swapped. The stock one hurts you even with a stock Hemi. It'll double the effectiveness of your mods for around $400 and shouldn't add anything to your labor.
