Default Gas Tank

I recently bought a 2002 Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4.7L. Everytime i fill the gas tank up I can't put more than 22 US Gallons in. I have had the option list that came from the dealer pulled and it says I have a 26 Gallon tank. Yesterday I was low on gas and my DTE said 0 (zero) and I was still going. I filled it up with gas and it went to 21.853 Gallons. If I had more time in the morning, I would have kept going.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

and...

How much gas can you all put in your truck?

Be thankfull its only 4 gallons. I think Dodge does this for a reason thats not obvious. GM trucks ,gas gauges are graduated exactly. But the problem is if you always leave you tank between quarter to empty, the fuel pump is dangerously close to not being submerged. THen when you hotdog drive with some G-forces the pump instantanously gets non submerged and sucks air. Wah-lah, NEW FUEL PUMP,,,,,at close to $500-$600 at a pop. GMs are notorously for that. And there is no warning.
