The heads really arn't a true hemi head. I have my heads off right now and when they were at the machine shop they had a "real" hemi head off a 426 in they're shop. Big difference from the "new" hemi and an old hemi head.
The main advantage of a hemi head is actually the valve placement. But yea, the new hemi heads do have "squish pads" around the valves...I think they're supposed to help fuel optimization. They are hemispherical though...and because of this they had to use domed pistons to get the compression up. A "true hemi head" is just too dirty for todays emissions standards...so it was changed up some.

ok.. WHY do you want them off? jeez. im getting answers saying "i dont want them." ok, WHY dont you want the mds on? does it bother you saving fuel? does it turn you on when you know its off? will it make you sleep better? jeez.

Yea, a true hemi head would never pass todaysemissions. From what I understand this new hemi barely passed emissions requirements.I would love to see someone make a true hemi head and pistons with more of a dometo see how it performs on the 5.7-6.1 hemi.
