I just had the U joints on both sides (L&R)of the front axle replaced. Now, it was aggravating enough to have to had the rear drive shaft U joints replaced (twice), but now the front axle U joints??

The truck steered like it was in 4WD all the time and in sharp turns if vibrated like it was a JT8D firing up on an old 737.

Truck has 40,000 miles.

So, when I inquired as to why the axle U joints had to be replaced at 40K miles, I got a grin and a shrug and he told me that this was common.

Does anyone know of a better U replacement U joint instead of using the Dodge joint? Perhaps one that will run for a lot longer, and maybe has a Zerk fitting?

I have owned dozens of jeeps and never had a bad axle U joint ever.
