we get flash floods quite a bit, esp since we're just at the bottom of the hill country.. I usually throw in 10 40# bags of top soil in the bed to give it some more weight, have had it slip on me due to current, and when you go over, youre dead, all the time on the news you hear bout people getting killed in highwater crossings.. or a body will turn up a few days later... always keep it in 4 wheel so if that rear starts skipping your fronts will still have tracktion...

gear oil is what maybe 40 bucks big whoop
closer to 140, i buy amsoil

even if it were just 40 for me i would want to dick with replacing it every week for 2 months out of the year and then periodically throughout the rest of the year....

Can't believe it . I tought my 05 was hard on gas , but now I now it's 'cheap to run' .My cousin received hisPowerwagon and itdrinks gas like there is no tomorrow . It's short manual ratiosand 4.56 gears areresponsible . I guess it wont be anyworst on 35' .

Maybe a Tornado could help ..................[sm=roll.gif]

its a heavier truck as well.
If by tornado you're referring to that tube they sell that connects your air box to your plenum theyre a waste of money.

Hope the pics help you out in not changing the diff fluid every time. I used to check my quite a bit when I first bought my truck new but saw there were no issues.

Ramit looking at that I don't think you would need to replace it. those pics it looks high water but it isn't like the differentials are being completely submerged under the water. From the OP's statements he was talking about his dad having his truck with water halfway into the cab which would definately mean you need to change the fluid.

I know the front is safe as that tube goes up into the engine bay. I wound up having to waterproof my fog lights as they would get submerged and short out. I wish I had the pics from my blackberry, these pics were just since I bought my iPhone.

Thanks guys . I 'll make sure the breathers are high enough
Thanks RamItOne for the Link

I was just kidding . Yes I think the heavy weight of this truck and low gear ratio (manual) are responsible for the gas consumption .

it isn't like the differentials are being completely submerged under the water
When going forward , it's ok . When you're stuck for a moment , seems likeit's something else .
Next time I pull him out , it's gonna cost him a picture. lol [sm=lol.gif]
