Alright, i see that water in the engine from an aftermarket CAI is impossible no matter how hard it rains. It took Jessica Simpson to make me realize it but i finally did. I just ordered one of the $80 from ebay. Hopes everything turns out good.
Its not impossible. Ive seen people who had their engine hydrolock just by removing the air "horn" onthe stock filter box, and driving through water puddles. The setup you have listed that goes farther down into the engine bay would be the best performance wise, as the air is cooler down there; but in my opinion that would be the best chance of sucking water up into the filters if you go through a nice size water puddle.

I have heard of a few of hemis hydrolocking. Some stock, some cai, 1 sts turbo.

It does not take that much water to lock it.

And don't get the little filter piece for the middle of your CAI (that thing that catches water...forgot its name) but it'll pretty much defeat the purpose of getting colder air.

what are you talking about? little filter for the middle......what?
It is like a filter in the middle of your CAI. You have to cut the pipe in half, then you attach the CAI pipes onto it. It is like a filter in the middle to catch water incase water does come up through the main air filter and it'll prevent hydrolocking. I don't see how people have hydrolocked in a truck. Like I said, I had a 2000 honda accord lowered 2 1/2 inches on 18's with a CAI. Went through the heaviest rain and biggest puddles and never had a problem (Drove it with the CAI for about 2 years till I sold my little foreign friend).

Here, to give you an idea of how low my accord was driving it for 2 years with the CAI. The filter was located right behind the lower-middle of the passenger bumper. RIght above the lip! Like I said, I went through the heaviest rain and big puddles. Did all the work myself on it, so don't call it ricey. You can call it little jappy crappy though! haha jk, jsut got tired of the import scene and realized all the guys who drove them were the biggest ***s.
