CAI causes Hydrolock???
I have an 08 3.7 V6 ram and am thinking about putting on a chrome cold air intake. I saw some off ebay like this one for $80-

but i heard somewhere that since its mounted lower it could suck in water and cause damage to the engine-hydrolock! In that case then would i better be off with something for $20 like this?-http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...mZ230238702002
which is mounted highter. I dont know which one is better performanceand what kind of potential damage could happen from aftermarket CAI like these. Also i heard it might void my warranty and since i have a pretty much brand new truck, i dont want to do that.

i don't know about the V-6 but on my Hemi the stock intake is as low or mabey lower than any CAI i have ever seen, so in my opinion (and it's just an opinion) i would have a better chance knocking up Jessica Simpson than you would hydrolocking your Ram with a CAI.
you would have the same chance getting water in an aftermarket CAI as you would with the stock air box (again on the Hemi at least) because the air inlet on the stock air box is on the very bottom of the box pointing forward.
Man, hydrolocking on a truck should be impossible unless you go in like 4 feet of water. My first car was a honda accord lowered 2 1/2 inches all around with an AEM CAI and it was LOW. I drove in heavy *** rain in big puddles and never had a problem with water getting in. And don't get the little filter piece for the middle of your CAI (that thing that catches water...forgot its name) but it'll pretty much defeat the purpose of getting colder air. Anyway, it's a truck...and it sits higher than cars, therefore, it would almost be impossible to hydrolock even in heavy rain with puddles.

Alright, i see that water in the engine from an aftermarket CAI is impossible no matter how hard it rains. It took Jessica Simpson to make me realize it but i finally did. I just ordered one of the $80 from ebay. Hopes everything turns out good.
definatly keep us posted and tellh ow it runs. ive always wondered about that cheap $80 one compared to the couple hundred dollar ones....id think they do the same damn thing especially since it has a K&N filter on it.
Hey man,
Definitely go for the $80 intake. I have owned both. The tube connecting to the TB is where you get your power. Notice this intake only upgrades the tube going into the throttle body. True flow is a good brand as well IMO.
