04 Hemi stalling and stuttering
Recently and a trip, I had a check engine light come on which stayed on for a couple of days before going out. I did not have a chance to get the code read, but ever since the light came on(and a few times before) the truck has been stalling on occasion when coming to or idleing slowly. Sometimes even when coasting down a hill at 50km/h the truck will stall. Also when driving around at 50km/h or less and with little to no throttle, the RPM's will drop for a second to about 500 before picking back up to normal. Another symptom is that when accelerating from a stop, there is a short .5-1 second bog where the RPM's drop before it responds properly. I have had no problems when driving around above idle or at highway speeds. My guess is that this is an EGR valve issue, and a dealership has somewhat confirmed this but I do not know for sure yet.
Also, does anyone know what the warranty period would be on the EGR valve? The dealership that I talked to says I am most likely out of warranty...the truck is an 04 with 46,000 km's.

sounds like egr valve
probably not under warranty
bought mine from dealership for $40
2 or 3 bolts hold it in.
remember to disconnect the battery while you are putting it in and this resets the computer

I went to a dealership today to ask them about this. They want to run diagnostics on it because they are not sure that it is the EGR valve. I think they just want the extra money out of me though. Is there anything else that would cause this problem? The symptoms:
-RPM's dip occasionally when slowing down and sometimes the truck stalls.
-When holding steady throttle at slower speeds (0-60km/h)..the RPM's go up and down like a loop. Sometimes worse then others.
-When accelerating from stop or slow speed, the engine bogs for a second before going back to normal acceleration.

Unfortunatley I am from Canada and we don't have Autozone's up here...the cheapest place I can find to read the codes where I live is $80.

I have heard that if you turn the key on and off 3 times in a row and leav it on the third time it will show you the codes...you don't need to turn the truck on...and then there are lots of places you can see what the codes mean...Have you maybe tried calling some of the diesel shops around? some of them may be willing to read your codes from you...I know a guy that owns a shop out your way, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it's called
