MDS in a 3/4 Ton ?
Not practical, First, axles and gear ratios are not the same as a 1500 ram, 2500 is whieghs more, the best bet for increasing mpg is to get a 2500 with a 6 sp standard.
My 06 2500 is a 5.7 6sp
I really like my truck to run on 4 cy towing 7500 lbs!!!!

Yep MDS is bullsheet. I only got 21 mpg average over 125 mile freeway trip the other day. Actually when I pulled off the freeway it said 21.9. That was on a round trip up to the desert and back. So the altitude went from 500 up to 2,500 and back according to the GPS. Might have got 30 without the MDS. I have an 07 QC Hemi 2 wheel drive auto.

And driving habit has a lot to do with mpg, i'm sure you were speeding with that 21mpg...try driving 65 and see what you get.Either way that's good mileage for a big truck dude..

I do concur MDS has it's benifits, But it's not going to be a solid soution for a big powerful brick blistering down the high way, in city driving, MDS is not going to work, unless your on a free way and driving like a snail.
For the extra complexity to get one or two more mpg, in my opion, its not worth it.
I have no problems pulling 20 mpg higway in a reg cab 5.7 6sp 2500 4x4, But I have to keep the Rpms below 2000 , and not excead 60 Mph.
In the Charger, 300c, ect, MDS is more practical, less whight, = engine 5.7.
My only experiance with mds was a rental 1500 quad cab ram, sucked more gas than my 2500 and pulled less milage on the highway, I did have four adults and a fridge in the back.

I've been trying to find a way to get my MDS to activate at higher MPH ie 75-80. I know I just about killed MDS with a 3" lift and 35" tires but it works until I get past 60. I know it has specific requirements to switch to MDS but I'd like to almost force it into MDS mode. Not all the time, just when on the interstate doing 70+. I don't mind less power when I'm just cruising and not towing anything. There are times when you need an 8cyl HEMI (towing and flooring it) and times when you only need a 4cyl truck (cruising).
