Default Hard Shift into drive

Well this is my first post on the forum. I just bought a 06 QC Sport5.7 last weekend and I had a couple of questions about it I was hoping someone can help me with.

1) I noticed every morning or after sitting a long period the shift into drive is hard. I make sure the brake is firmly pressed but there's a kick when drive is engadged. It doesn't happen after the truck is warmed up and it shifts through the gears fineafterwards.

2) I have about $1200 I put asside to modify the truck after the purchase. I want to get the bed Line-X'd because there's few deep scratches which have surface rust already. I was quoted $450 with rails which seems kinda high but maybe thats just due to the economy these days. I'm going to buy the Vararra Hemi-VR style CIA next Monday too, but my goal is to improve sound and gasmileage over power. I was considering the SLP exhaust and a performance chip but even after reading some of the posts there's so many options and opinions it will take some time to sort through them all. This all being said one done, the Line-X $450 , Hemi-VR $400, I guess a chip would fit the remainder of the budget and statisfy the mileage increase more than an exhaust system?

Thanks, MP - PS I'll post pictures this weekend.

When you park your truck, is it on any kind of incline or decline? Even a few degrees in either direction will make you truck shifty hard into drive if you are not using the parking brake. The reason is that when you park your truck, if you do not use the parking brake on any kind of slope, when you release the brake, you will notice the truck will shift a few inches before stopping. This is allowing the truck to rest HARD on the transmission instead of the brake. IF you park on a slope, before you release the brake, apply the parking brake, then let go of the foot brake. This is my only solution.

Actually I always use the parking brake, as soon as I shift to Park I lock the parking brake and then let off the gas. The driveway is on a slight doward slopeand I'm pulling in.

Well the next thing to look into (which will be the dealer, not you) would be the parking solenoid. It might be sticking and when you shift out of park, the solenoid is delayed, thus the truck is then resting on the tranny not the EBrake cuasing the hard shift as mentioned above. I had a tranny solenoid problem early on mine, and I had a parking solenoid sticking on my other car, so it is not entirely out of the question.

What's the idle rpm when this happens? You mentioned early in the morning and after sitting a long time. If the idle is still in the 1K rpm range 'cause the engine's cold, it'll certainly "slam" into gear. It might be a trifle low on fluid.
