Default Fresh RAM owner with questions

Hey there all
I know its been asked but want to be sure I just got a 2004 ram 1500 4x4 4dr and am going to upgrade the tire size , I know a 285 70 17 will fit no problem but is it ok to go to a 305 70 17 on stock wheels and can the speedo be recalabrated for that tire size , is there any rubbing, want to fill the fender as much as possiable , does any one know the differance in high between the two tire when mounted , im thinking BFG no matter which size i choose
Thanks

Default RE: Fresh RAM owner with questions

33x12.5x17 is generally regarded as the max tire size with no rubbing issues at all on a stock 3rd Gen 1500. The speedo can be re-calibrated by the dealer (I've read where some dealers don't charge, but expect a fee of between $40 & $70) or you could purchase a tuner that would do it plus give you a host of other benefits...
