Hey guys, I just got an 04 1500 5.7 and am looking for suggestions for power adders on a relatively limited budget. I've already got headers intake exhaust and a prograqmmer, so what next? thanks for the help guys

What's the budget?

I would look at gears / torque converter.

Seems like those are the expensive items to me. Perhaps a 6.1L cam and valvetrain?

cams are expensive as hell, you will need a new tune. SCT tuner is the way to go with this

Not necessarily true. The cam itself is about 100 bones. Its the installation that's gonna be a kick in the nuts to the wallet.

I am just waiting it out for my 5 years to run out on my warranty since the miles are not going to hit it first(at 57,000 now) and then I am going for the STS turbo system. I want the instant kick in the *** all at one time... even if it costs me almost $4000 to do it.

For a street truck I'd do gears. What gears are in it now? If you don't plan on doing alot of 1/4 mile racing 4.56's are nice. A 6.1 cam doesn't need a tune but the bottom end is going to be lackluster. At the minimum with any cam your going to need valvesprings and pushrods. The 5.7 and 6.1 cams use a different base circle so the puchrods are different lengths. The 6.1 cam has a pretty fast ramp that is going to be hard on 5.7 springs and most of the aftermarket cams are a little to agressive for the stock springs.

You can do the 6.1 cam for about $300; a little less if you dont have to pull the heads, E-fan is a fairly cheap mod, gears.
