Does anyone out there know if it is possible to convert an AWD/4x4 to part time 4x4? The truck is a 2004 ram 1500 w/awd. Was going to swap Transfer case unit, transfer case ecu, shift motor. Is there an easier way? All this for a lift kit, Am i crazy!!!!LOL Any info would be appreciated thanks, Steven

 

What do you mean part time 4x4? awd kinda is part time only putting power where you need it most. Can't you turn the **** to full 4x4 locking all wheels with full power?

 

What I mean by part time 4x4 is the truck would only be in 2wd when the transfer case is not engaged. Yes i can shift into 4hi 4lo and neutral with the transfer case. The reason I wanted to convert is I have a 2" leveling lift on it and due to the awd system there is alot of vibration under acceleration.

 

oh, I got you. Surely it couldn't be that hard, I wouldn't think you would have to have a diff transfer case. It seems to me it would be easier than that.

 

You would think so but the transfer case on that truck is a dedicated awd/4wd case. Found some used parts online under $600US just dontknow if it is worth it??? Should be, considering I love my truck. Thanks
