Adding LSD with lifetime warranty...
My truck came with an open diff, and I'd like to add a limited-slip. Anybody know if the lifetime warranty would still apply to the entire differential if I were to have a dealer install a factory limited-slip unit? Haven't been able to get a straight answer from any dealer yet.
Sounds like you need to try to find another dealer. If you are having the work done by a Dodge Dealer installing an OEM part, then your warranty should be safe. From what I hear though, the stock LSD is junk. Sounds like a good excuse for an aftermarket unit and some 4.10s or 4.56s. That's the only part of your rearend that you should have to worry about... the stock LSD. It will be very had to break a 9.25 unless you go crazy on power. Installing aftermarket parts will void the warranty on the rear end only, but as I said I wouldn't worry about it. It won't break.
What I wanna know is since we both have an open rear do they still enforce the changing of the gear oil every 15k? Seems like a waste of good lube/timeto me since we don't have c-clips...
I don't mind my tires spinning, as long as it's not just one of them. Truck spends a lot of time off the pavement, and it can get real sloppy after a good rain.
Only going to do it if it conforms to warranty, as this is a work truck and will be used by our farm for many years after I'm done with it.
As for fluid, going to switch to synthetic and change at 60k intervals.

By law NO mod can automatically void a warranty. The mod has to be the cause of the damage and then ONLY the parts that have been damaged would not be covered under the warranty. So if you change gears and carrier and your axle snaps in half... they would have to prove the gears/POSE caused the damage.... which they cant... so it would be covered. Now if you install gears and the rear pinion bearing goes out... then you would be stuck with the bill since that part was replaced when the gears where installed...
So many variables but in a nut shell, they can NOT do a blanket warranty void on your truck because you have mods. The mods have to be the cause of the damage being warrantied.
SO if you have gears and no damage... then your covered. If your gears cause damage then your NOT and only for the damage they caused.
I hope that makes since.
