First oil change question
It depends on what type of oil it came with. If its petroleum I'd change it at 3000. If it's synthetic I'd wait until 5000-6000. Since you have a new truck that isn't fully broken in yet you might want to stick with petroleum until around 10,000. After that I'd make the switch to full synthetic. Just my opinion.
My truck has 200 miles on it, I was planning on converting it to Mobil 1 synthetic at around 3-5000 miles, would this be ok?

I brought mine home from the dealer and switched to Penzoil Platinum full synthetic on the same day. The old way of thinking was that one needed to run dino oil for a while to let all the rubber seals swell and seal before using synthetic oil. However all seals and gaskets are now made from synthetic rubber instead of natural rubber so switching to synthetic at any time is ok. I am hard on engines and change my oil every three thousand miles. for regular service, 5 to 6 thousand would be fine. Use a quality filter, Wix is A great one and will be available at most local part stores (wix also makes the NAPA gold series filters). Every piece of heavy equipment I ever worked on had Wix filters, thats what first opened my eyes to filter quality. If thay are good enough for bull dozers and track hoes, there good enough for street trucks!
There are many good filters on the market besides Wix, like K&N, and Amsoil, but these cost A lot more. Hope this helps!

You really only need to do it every 6,000 miles. The oil companies (jiffy Lube, etc...) will tell you every 3,000 so you will come in more often, but you only need to every 6,000 miles.
