Default 03 hemi

When I bought my truck, the dealership said I have to put premium gas in it. Nowhere on my truck says I have to put premium gas in it. Usually it says it on the dash or the gas cap but it doesnt. They said it was only for the 03 model hemi which doesnt make sense. Just wondering wut u guys think if it's BS or not??

you dont have to use premium.I used 87 (regular) in mine when I was still stock and never had any problems, you will see better MPG with 89 (premium) though..Im pretty sure premium is recomended for all years though, I know it is for my 05

Premium is not recommended. Right out of the owners' manual, 87 is ok, 89 is recommended.

around here 89 is considered "premium", 87 is "regular", and 91 is "plus"

I used to put 91 in my 03, but with above $4.00/gal I use Reg. I do get better gas mileage with 89 and 91.

I use straight 89 or a mix of 93 and 87 to approximate 89-ish. Neither the Ram or the C are happy with 87. The manual on the Ram says 87 is "acceptable" 89 is "preferred" and 91 is "recommended". 93 is "not recommended". If I do the "mix" at Costco, it's actually cheaper than everyone else's 89. 91 is not available here or maybe anywhere in Florida.

87 is fine, the compression is only 9.6:1 and every hemi i've seen has excessive carbon in the tailpipe so the factory tune is rich. Both of those will prevent any detonation..
