i have some small rust stops on my chrome bumpers and am wondering how i can get them back to chrome aside from rechroming the whole bumper also i have some rust on the front bumper right below the plastic top part almost as if a screw holding it together or soemthing is rusted and letting it "drip on the top of the bumper"
As long as the rust hasn't eaten through the chrome (surface rust that is caught early) you can get a buffer for your power drill and buff it out. Maybe a little WD40 to loosen it up if needed. If the rust has eaten through the chrome, then you are S.O.L. and then you might look into painting.
The bumper on my dads '72 Electra 225 kept on breaking out with little rust acne. Just hit it with some chrome polish and it's gone. It Always comes back, though. You gotta keep at it.
im not sure if its rusted through its not like a whole or anything its just a spot like the size of a dime so its pretty noticable and im not a big fan of it
my moms 07 ram the back bumper got hundreds of lil rust spots all over it and the dealer replaced it for free. they said they've had to change alot of them.
WD40 and steel wool, that works great. I've been taking footprints off of my motorcycles exhaust for years with that combination. Just make sure you keep it wet with the wd40, its like wet sanding..
as far as the dealer with the bumper mines an 03 so i dont think they would still do that, ill try the wd40 im just worried about scratchign the chrome
