I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Magnum 4.7.. it is factory motor. what is the horsepower on that motor?

That's into the transmission. Probably less than two hundred at the rear wheels.

 

here is a question.

where did they get the extra ponies in the 2008? did they redesign the motor or is it by tweaking the computer. if it is from tuning the computer can i take my 07 to the dealer and get the computer reprogrammed for the 310HP?

 

not computer - they rediesinged the motor. All sorts of coolio stuff

 

pffffft, that sucks, i was lookin for the easy way out!

now i am gonna have to change gears, cai, chip, nos, blower, no not really. the cai and gears are a probably though. a lil supercharger would be nice!

 

lol you wish, 16 plugs, better cam, different crank, wrist pins, intake manifold, etc etc etc... you cant just push a few buttons like you can on an oil burner...

 

yeah i know, i hate my brother, he has a duramax with a bully dog and it will break your neck if you aren't ready for the launch, it is insane the kind of power you can get with a tuner on a diesel!

 

I don't know how much longer you plan on keeping your truck or if you're upside down, but if you want speed buy a hemi or the 4.7 ho. If you took an 07 4.7 and 5.7 you'd almost spend as much on upgrades to make the 4.7 as fast as the hemi as it would have cost to buy the hemi and a $400 edge prog.

I bought the 4.7 cause I only towed a pontoon boat. Don't want to have to buy 89 octane. I wanted 4wd and a 4door truck. I wouldnt take a diesel that's 2wd or 2door.

 

i will just make my 12th payment this month, it will be awhile before it gets traded, plus the wife is next for a new ride, so i gotta love what i got, which i do. i know its no speedster but a little umph would be nice. so i will add things here and there to git r done.
