WHAT IS THE PROPER OFFSET?
I have a 2005 Ram 1500 4x4 Quadcab. I have raised the front 2.5" to level it. I want to put some new wheels and tires on it. I was planning on going with a 33/12.50/17 for the tires but I was wondering what the required offset for the wheels would be? I was looking at some 17x9" wheels but was confused on the offset. If anybody out there has any advice it would be appriciated!
I have a 17x9 wheel with a 4.5" backspace and a -12mm offset. This seems to be about the specs that nobody is reporting any fitment issues with 12.5" wide tires. Look for wheels with about the same specs...
Hmm my truck is a 5.5". i have an 06 so maybe just the 06 and 07 are different. Cause my current 20" Factory rims are a 5x5.5" Its easy to measure though. And there are threads on how to do it on here.

If it is any help, the offset and backspace are the same measurement. For example, the 17x9" Dick Cepek DC-1 wheels have 4.53" backspacing and -12mm offset. ANY wheel from ANY manufacturer that is 9" wide and has 4.53" backspace will have -12mm offset. If you know the backspace, then don't worry about offset. If you know the offset, don't worry about backspace. They are the same measurement, just taken from different sides of the wheel. It generally seems that around 4.5" of backspacing is what is good. Hope this helps.
Thanks! That is just the info I was looking for! I'll post some pics when I get the wheels and tires. Waiting for My Tax relief check!!!LOL!!
