Ok, I had never heard of modifying a spark plug non-fouler in such a way. I was sitting here trying to figure out how the hell running them would eliminate the CEL, especially since it's not recommended to rum them in all your cylinders. I guess the theory makes sense.
This is how it's done and it works. I've done it to my last truck and a friends not to mention I personally have a friend with a F_RD who bought the simulators for like $75 and still got a cell. I walked him through how to do it over the phone and the non-fouler DID NOT generate a cell - for about $10 total...

i understand i need to do the non-fouler trick in the rear o2 sensor. but what im saying is...am i doing this right? dropping out the cat and breaking all the stuff inside to make it less restrictive? or should i forget it and put in a straight pipe?

Me, I'd just cut the thing out. But I have a friend up home with a shop where I can not only get the pipe for nuthin', but can have it mendrel bent and tapped anyplace I want for me. Plus, I've been welding since I was about 11, so for me, it'd be a no brainer...

thats sounds like a lot of work especially since i dont have the connections and dont know how to weld. if i took it to a shop i think theyd charge too much.i was originally not even concerned about getting more flow, its just the damn thing is rattling and i want to fix it. i think my easy way of doing that is keeping the cat housing, but just gut it. i dont have to worry about drilling holes for the 02 sensor either. gut the cat, and put non foulers on the rear o2 sensor.

ya man. the damn resonator did the same thing. the stuff breaks off inside and has this little rattling sound, almost as if a little pebble was in your exhaust. its faint when idling, but when you get on it, its loud, and it only comes from onr side. and like i said......my resonato did it about a month back.....its the same fukcing noise, so i pretty much know what it is.

You do know that by modifiying your emission system you thus void your warranty? For the very small restriction that the cats have, I don't think it is worth removing them. Especially if you are giving up all warranty benefits for the truck. Just my opinion, do what you want with your truck.

well considering that im not the original owner.....warranty is non transferable, its a 02 with 90k miles....im not too worried about voiding the warranty that doesnt exsist. all im trying to find out is if im going about this the right way

I would check with a dealer if your cats are still covered under that emissions thing for 7 years or so.

The cats really don't restrict the flow enough to remove them for that.
