If you buy from Crutchfield they include all of the wiring harnesses and dash kits you need for free along with some nice instructions on how to do it and some customer service. Just thought I'd point that out. They may cost alittle more but imo are worth it for the customer service. Most all of my stuff other than my H/U in the truck has come from Crutchfield. The only reason I didn't get the H/U there was that I got it slightly used.

ben, do you have any links to a site for those eclipses? I have an 07 w/o navigation and w/o the infinity system...I know my radio is 1 1/2 din, so i kind of wanted a flip out in the range of about 500...i was looking at online car stereo but they didnt have too good of prices for the eclipse

well what are you looking for just a flip out? or do you need navigation. The eclipse nav unit flip out is really nice. it's the AVN7000 it's pricey tho about 2grand if you don't want nav get the AVX5000 only downside to the AVX is it needs a 5.1ch decoder to get the high voltage preouts. which you would want if u r gonna run amps and subs.
here is their webpage. ur truck does have a 1 1/2 din opening but you can buy the bezel on ebay or from a dealer that is from a truck with the double din nav thus allowing you to have a double din opening.

the pioneer 5000 flip out isn't bad. it's just about the same thing as the 4000 i mentioned earlier except the 5000 is a flip out not a double din.
so yea that would be a good head unit. has high voltage preouts seems good to me. only downside is it doesn't have navigation.

what are you looking to do with ur audio system. just want a screen? adding amps and subs possibly? need ipod control, USB, bluetooth anything special?

 

I have the alpine CDA-9884. I really like the head unit i also reaplaced all my speakers 6x9 3way pioneers up front, 6.5' 3 way in the back, and dome tweeters in the dash pioneer. It sounds amazing the only thing is you cant search through your inpod using your remote, it is fast tho bu tyou have to do it thought the headunit itslef..

Well I am putting a 1600 watt amp and two 12's, and eventually probably replacing my door units...Im not really looking for navigation, I'd rather get something else with the 200bucks being a college student...lol but I really have been putting off getting the head unit for awhile, researching and etc....I wish you had a shop here in shreveport haha they dont really explain to me and just want every cent i have...without the head unit (just a box/wiring harness/amp kit/installation) they wanted about 700...crazy!

 

what amplifier and subs are you using? and what box are you bulding. you are going to be hard pressed to find enough airspace in that truck to build a sub enclosure that will properly feed two 12 inch subs taht are meant to be run at 1600 watts rms.

700 is a bit much for just the sub part of it but I'll be 100% honest. audio is one place where money gets you quality there are some things that you can pay a cheaper price and still get quality but in most cases that isn't the case. I may or may not be building one helluva system in this truck depending on how fast I can pay it off. I'm planning on doing sound quality competition. we're talking high end component speakers, double din head unit, signal processors, good subs. I've been bouncing stuff like this around in my head and all the components tallied up are over 8 grand lol. I'd love to do it but at this point I want to pay the truck off as soon as possible.

With the budget you are saying i'd get the pioneer 5000 flip out, the 4000 double din from pioneer or teh AVX from eclipse. it's really a toss up i'd probably go for teh 5000 flipout myself. that's right in ur budget and will be perfect for what you are looking to do.

 

Its a lanzar vibe amp, audiobahn subs, and im wanting to buy a box off of ebay or something, i couldnt build one good enough to maximize airspace...Okay sounds like a good deal tho, thats the one I liked...Do i need to order an ipod interface with it? and what guage amp kit would you reccomend?
