In-Dash Screen?
So you're saying that all I need is the simple harness, and having "no switch harness" just doesnt let the chime work? Im going to get a guy at the shop to install it (a different shop than the one who wanted me to get the 120 dollar harness) and I wanted to clue him in on this before I gave him the job! What exactly do I need to tell him?
no the chime thing was for gm models not applied to u
all you need are a few simple parts
antenna adapter, wiring harness, and a dash kit. prolly cost you 30 bucks at most.
the only thing that guy will need to know is that he will have to run his own switched 12volt wire. because the factory harness doesn't have one.

alright thanks bro, that answered ALOT of questions for me...Ill probably order the screen tonight! Imma keep you on contacts in case of any other ramergencies
The factory radio is turned on and off by a computer signal nowadays. Most cars have 2 12 volt leads that go to the radio, one is constant, and one is switched on and off by the ignition. The 2nd switched 12v source is not in our trucks at the radio. If you do not want to buy the adaptor, you will have to hook your radios SWITCHED 12v lead to something that gets a 12v feed when the ignition is turned on, as Smitty said, a good place to do this is the drivers side cig lighter, you can tap into the red/yellow wire there, and your radio will continue to stay on after you shut your truck off, until a door is opened. You can buy an adapter for the rest of the wires that will hook into the factory harness, it's an easy job...
