Shock replacement
well mines pretty much extended all the time. ihave stock shocks with a 2.5" leveling kit, and the shocks have 90k miles on them. if they arent all the way compressed, their pretty damn close, when you hit potholes in my truck, you know it!
Ouch! I have a 2 1/2" level kit on mine with stock shocks. I can still raise the front of the truck a fair distance with the jack before the tires leave the ground. You might wanna change your shocks before you "get air" and pull something loose.
I would look at the Billstein shocks or the Ranch RS9000 (I like the 9 point adjustability they offer - I have the rough country 9000 - and they arn't bad, but they aint great either - will be replacing them in the next 10K for either the billstein or rancho's. I have not decided which yet.

I thought I read a post where you said you already bought Bilsteins?
Anyway, there's two brands of shocks I'd put on my truck, Bilstein's or Rancho's, period...

longer shocks will lift the truck a little bit correct? im going with rancho 5000's

Shocks DO NOT change the ride height plain and simple. The shock doesn't support the weight of the vehicle. Being as you can compress them by hand what would make you guys think that the vehicle wouldn't compress them? The coils are what change the ride height.
I agree, it is not the shocks that change the ride height...however, if you use spacers (like I have) the longer shocks are crucial. My ride was UGLY for about a month. It was a combination of the shocks having 50k miles on them and that the shocks were bottoming out, meaning the wheels were not on the ground for dips & etc... Additionally, if you put a larger amount of compression on the spring the ride is going to become stiffer. I went with the Bilsteins HDs that were suggested for the 2500/3500 and they have been great. I have only had them for a week, but the ride is incredible in comparison to before. It rides better than any truck I have driven in a while. PM me if you want the exact model #s...

ya hammer, their just so close...i mean for christ sake, having 2 people that start with m..i mean c'mon theres just way too much confusion here!
is your truck a 4x4? mines a 2wd and the only longer shock they have for my truck in the rancho 5000 is the one meant for a 2500 2wd. so if you consider that HD in any way, then i guess it is.

ha! I here first! lol...
But from what I understand, the 4x2 2500 sit a couple of inches higher than the 1500 (not positive this is true, but from what I was able to put together from searching this and other forums and specs sheets, that is what I came up with) and the shocks for them are exactly what we need for the addition of the coil spacers. Riding good and lookin level...I like it!

One more contribution: I, too, have spacers -- 2 1/2" to be exact. My shocks are pushing 96K with no stiffness. Granted, there is probably some slop by now. When she gets to 100K, I'm figuring to put a set of Monroe Reflex on, whether they seem needed or not.
