Default Newbie bought a 2005 QC Hemi

First want to say "hey to all"...I'vebeen reading some of the topics on your site and have to say i'm glad i found it. In just a short amount of time i read some threads that are priceless. So i had to join.

Today after test driving a 2005 QC Hemi Laramie,i took the plunge.I hope i did the right thing.I was just wondering if anyone can give me the heads up on this truck like any common problems or things to watch for.The dealer wouldn't give me a warranty, said i got the truck too cheap, but i can get a warranty thru a third party extened coverage company. It has 45000 miles on it.The cost of the supreme coverage is $2495 for 4 years of protection. What do you,the owners of these trucks think ? Is a warranty recommended or are they overall pretty reliable ? Any help is greatly appreciated.Thanks,Jay.

Every truck has flaws. With so many Dodge Ram's out there on the road there will always be someone on here that has problems with theirs. I would say buy the warranty b/c you never know what kind of 45000 miles were put on your truck before you bought it, the seller won't be honest and of course the dealership won't either. If the warranty is for 4 years 60,000 miles or close go for it, you will be covered over the 100,000 mile mark.

I agree! If it is a 4 year warranty you could be near or over 100,000 miles by that time, so I think it would be a smart option! But if they are also putting a mileage restriction on it then you might want to re-think it! Depending on what it is??

Welcome to the Forum!

I also have a '05 and love it! no major problems! You'll love your new truck!

I just took the plunge with an '05 Hemi QC myself. Mine had 34k on it and it's a "Dodge Certified" used vehicle, so it came with a 8yr/80k power train warranty. That was definitely a selling point. I was actually shopping for an F-150 when I came across this truck. That's probably blasphemy around here! It seems like you can get more "truck for your buck" with the Dodges. I'll add some pics of my truck and any changes I make as soon as I can figure out how to resize them. My pics are 2 megs and apparently need to be only 300k.

I was looking for a good place to buy accessories when I found this forum. I'm glad I did. I'll be sure and post any problems I have on here in case anyone has or had the same problem.

Anyone know of a site that mocks up what your vehicle looks like with add-ons? I've been using pics on this forum to get an idea here and there, but would like to see how the choices I make look together.

All you need to do to post your pics up Sgt SF is to resize them in a photo suite application, like Adobe photoshop or such like.
Re-size to 640x512 pixels and click on theupload more fileslink, on the forum page near to the bottom.
Locate where you have stored these resized images on your computer and click upload.
The pics will be sent to this forum and appear in your post.
Hope this helps you?
Al.

I just traded my 03 Ram QC 4X4 4.7L in on an 06 Ram QC 4X4 Hemi. Didn't haveone issue with the 03. But I was able to get a 6yr 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on my new 06 for $1500 from the dealer. I'd say get the warranty but definately shop around, that price seems a little high to me though. Congrats on your new truck, you made a smart choice!!
