i guess i will just have to try to pump it as slow as possible and not use the lever to hold it open. Not sure why it's doing this the first couple fill ups, i thought maybe a few other people have had this happen to but maybe not. Plus my truck is black, so i don't want to spill fuel all over it every time i fill up, cause i'm sure after awhile it would mess up the paint somehow

It's a common problem. Take it to the dealer and keep pestering them until they warranty it. Sometimes mine does it, sometimes it doesn't. I just learned a while ago not to fill up if I wasn't going to wash the truck immediately afterward, so, it helps me maintain a regular weekly wash schedule. It's still a pain in the *** when I go on a trip though.

i have always wondered though, will fuel actually really harm the paint? I always keep a bottle of Meguair's mist&wipe in the truck and clean it off immediatley if it does spill, and wax that spot when i get home. As long as you clean it off, it shouldn't really hurt the paint, right?

I had the same problem with my 2007 Ram 1500. I took it in and found out it was a problem with the vapor recovery system within the tank. This causes the gas to spit back up after pump clicks off. Under the warranty, they ordered a new tank and replaced it. Have not had any problems since. I've told 3 others about it, they had theirs replaced as well. It took about an hour for them to replace it.
