07 dodge ram fuel spillage??
just bought my 07 dodge ram 4x4 hemi two weeks ago. Every time i fill it up it spills fuel out the filler neck all over the truck right as the pump clicks off. Is this normal on these trucks because the way dodge designed the filler neck/tank, or somethin along those lines. This is drivin me nutz, i hate spillin fuel all over my new truck, i always think it's gonna fade the crap out of the paint. Any ideas????

no, the first time i thought it was just the pump at the gas station might have been defective. I have filled up 2 times since then at different stations and every time, right as the pump clicks off that it's full, it spits fuel out all over the side of the truck. I was looking at the fuel tube going to the tank and it is pretty much horizontal right to the tank, i was just wondering if a lot of the new dodge's do this at fill ups

it depends on the gas station...that same thign would happen to me at a few of the stations back home, but hasn'tn happened to me up here in michigan yet....course after the first 3 times it happened to me i just started listening to it to see when it was gettin close then i'd slow er down a little bit lol

RE: 07 dodge ram fuel spillage??
best way is to just know how much fuel u have and ur tank size and do the math. 26 gallon tank. means that if i'm at half i have 13 gallons that needs filled. I don't just the auto shut off. and yes the fuel will hurt the paint but just wash it off after each time. I've never had mine do it to me before.

My 06 has never had spillage from the autofill at any station. I have noticed however, that if my low fuel light turns on the auto fill up will vary from 29 gallons to 32 gallons in my 34 gallon tank, which is quite a large range I would think for the low fuel light to pop on at.

RE: 07 dodge ram fuel spillage??
i guess i will just have to try to pump it as slow as possible and not use the lever to hold it open. Not sure why it's doing this the first couple fill ups, i thought maybe a few other people have had this happen to but maybe not. Plus my truck is black, so i don't want to spill fuel all over it every time i fill up, cause i'm sure after awhile it would mess up the paint somehow
