for those who install a ball joint
if you are planning on installing a ball joint that has gone bad, and you buy a new one and plan on putting it in yourself, the install went pretty with the upper control arm. i unbolted the shock, let down the nut on the ball joint stud about 3/4 way and popped the ball joint with a ball joint fork (10 time better than a pitman arm puller!!!!) and then unbolted the 2 bolts that held the control arm to the frame...placed the new one in and went to put the stud of the ball joint into the spindle...and the damn boot came off the ball joint! too me quite a bit to get the boot back on with the little clamp...so i was just leting you guys know, TIGHTEN THAT CLAMP! its like a spring, very tightly coiled, just take the 2 ends of the coil and pull them together to tighten it so you dont have to go through what i did and loose all the grease you put in it! dont forget to grease it either because it doesnt come with grease from the factory, you have to do it yourself.
not as bad as it was before...but you gotta remember she has out of shape, out of balance tires and short shocks that love over stretch and it gets air haha. i think ill get shocks next weekend then im just waiting on tires and the ride will be great afterwards.
I replaced mine (The uppers) at 88K miles this past weekend. Super easy like you said. The dealership changed the lowers when I first bought it (at 32k miles). What's involved in taking the lowers off?
